Summer at 8400 feet
The summer growing season is in full swing. Harvesting zukes, tomatoes, peppers and still some lettuce. Did I mention the broccoli? Huge heads. We have had a lot of rain and hot days. The flowers are perfect right now. No deer or elk have visited, just a few voles and believe it or not they haven’t done too much damage. The containers are flourishing. However, the nights are getting colder, so I have moved a few tomato and pepper plants into the greenhouse. I am hoping for a long autumn. Here are a few photos of the garden.

YES, I am VERY interested to learn the methods of organic vegetable & herb gardening at my new environment of 8,000 ft. elevation. I moved here from Miami last year and realize that my new environment presents many different challenges….elevation, short growing season, drought, wildlife, etc. I attended the Colorado Home/Garden Show in Denver this past weekend to pick the brains of the Master Gardeners and definately would LOVE to volunteer at a community vegetable garden to get hands on experience which is SO valuable. Keep me posted.

I just purchased a bank-owned property in Morrison and there is NO LAWN. There is a sprinkler system, however, and I would love to learn how to start seeds, put in plants, and what grows the best before investing money on something that doesn’t grow at all. So I would be interested in your classes.
